The effectiveness of the Natural Hot Tub Company Water Treatment and Conditioner requires an efficient filtration system. If your filters are older than 12 months, you may need to replace them. The circulation needs to be between 6 and 8 hours a day. Refer to your owner’s manual on how to adjust it. You should clean your filters with the Natural Hot Tub Company Filter Soak and rinse thoroughly.
You want to test your spa water to ensure that your pH level is between 7.2-8.2, alkalinity is between 80-120 and total hardness is between 150-300ppm. Only adjust if they are significantly out of range. If your calcium hardness is high, we recommend using Leisure Time Defender on a weekly basis.
To remedy cloudy water, you need to shock daily until you see a significant improvement. It may require cleaning your filters several days in a row as well. It is always best to increase your circulation when you have cloudy water but once the problem is resolved you can decrease it to your normal cycle.
Often what causes cloudy water is excessive contaminants as in lotions, cosmetics and body oils. The amount of contaminants are directly proportional to the number of bathers and the frequency of use. We do suggest you shock once a week but after a heavy bather load you may need to shock at the end of the evening.
