Do I have to use anything else with Water Treatment & Conditioner?

For the majority of our customers, the Natural Hot Tub Company Water Treatment and Conditioner and an oxidizer are the primary products needed. There are two oxidizers that are effective: 99% sodium dichlor chlorine granules or a non-chlorine shock oxidizer such as Leisure Time Renew. There are occasions that additional products may be needed such as a calcium increaser, a stain and scale preventor, and/or a clarifier. We highly recommend using a Carbon Block/Redox Pre-filter. The Pre-filter will remove heavy metals and unwanted minerals that are often found in well water as well as municipal water.

Recently I noticed my Spa water was getting a little cloudy. What has caused this to happen?

Cloudy water may be caused by several things. Deodorants, lotions, body creams, soap residue in bathing suits, and make-up. Another cause can be from not performing filter maintenance frequently enough. Your hot tub circulation should be running 6 – 8 hours a day. Refer to your hot tub manual or instructions on how to adjust that setting. To clear up cloudy water first clean your filters with The Natural Hot Tub Company Filter Soak and then rinse your filters thoroughly. If it is necessary to repeat this process, you can rinse your filters without having to use the Filter Soak. Add a heavy dose of oxidizer (99% Dichlor chlorine granules or a non-chlorine shock). Turn on the jets for two cycles. Repeat this process daily until you get crystal clear water. If your water remains cloudy after performing this process, it could indicate your filters have lost their efficiency and we would recommend purchasing a new ones.

Is The Natural Hot Tub Company® Products more expensive than traditional chemicals?

No, in fact much less expensive than the traditional hot tub maintenance programs. The Natural Hot Tub Company program does not require using as many products for maintaining your spa year round.

Can I use your product with a soft tub?

Absolutely! Our products are safe and effective to use with a soft tub.

Can I use a non-chlorine shock with The Natural Hot Tub Company Water Treatment and Conditioner?

Yes, MPS is compatible with the water treatment and conditioner. We recommend Leisure Time Renew.

Can I use a 1 micron disposable filter with your products?

The enzyme system requires efficient filtration. The 1 micron disposable filter does work with our products but our research has found that the life of the filter is much shorter than advertised. Therefore, we prefer that you use pleated filters with your hot tub.

Why do you have to go through the cleansing process for older tubs? What will happen if I don't?

It is important to go through the cleansing process for older tubs because the traditional maintenance programs create a chemical buildup in your hot tub piping. If you do not go through the cleansing process, the Water Treatment and Conditioner will slowly remove that chemical buildup and often results in hazy and/or cloudy water.

Can I use a mineral stick with your product?

The Natural Hot Tub Company Water Treatment and Conditioner is compatible with any brand mineral stick. Most of our customers do not find that it is necessary to use with our products.

How often do I need to clean my filters?

The enzymes require an efficient filtration and it is important to keep your filters clean. You should rinse your filters using a garden hose nozzle every 7 -10 days. We suggest you use the Natural Hot Tub Company Filter Soak every 4 – 6 weeks for a deep cleaning.

How often do I change the water in my hot tub?

Your water should be changed yearly. We recommend the spring and fall for our customers who live in cooler climates to avoid having to change your water in freezing temperatures.
